![]() Most stories of Melatheril’s service share the same dark endings of slit throats or arrow-riddled bodies, but these have become fewer and farther between in recent times. No matter the version of the story, the Royal Huntsman’s role remains one of a brutal, remorseless killer. In others, she was an innocent beauty who became the target of the monarch’s jealousy. ![]() In some iterations of the tale, the maiden was the crown’s rightful heir and was murdered by an usurper before she could raise a rebellion against the false ruler. Melatheril took out her heart and delivered it to his liege regardless. While others scoured city underbellies and criminal hideouts, Melatheril, a hunter then of little importance, discovered the Elf woman living a peaceful countryside life, having never made any advances against the crown, and with no apparent intentions of doing so. Hunters from across the land were hired to find and kill her. This ruler was a powerful seer and had a vision of rebellion and a crumbling kingdom at the hands of a fair maiden. Perhaps the most infamous of his rumored deeds was the first task supposedly given to him by a past Aravian king. ![]() It is undoubtedly true that his identity being hidden benefits him in his role, but some speculate that he has renounced his name, either to fully embody the duties of the Royal Huntsman without sullying himself, or to abandon a shameful past. In common gossip, it is believed he came from humble birth and that his family name, or lack thereof, is a source of embarrassment to him. If pressed on his identity, he gives the name Melatheril, though whether it is true or false remains unconfirmed. Little is known about the current Royal Huntsman, only the stories and rumors that circle him and the fact that he has held the position for over a century. If ever an enemy of the crown needs to be reminded of the ruler’s power, or if an overly loud dissenter needs to disappear, the Royal Huntsman is sent to climb through their bedroom windows at night to leave a message, or to send an arrow through their heart from atop the palace’s spires. For this reason, the Huntsman’s golden helmet is a sight that discomforts many in the palace of Aravia. Masters of archery and stealth, they are expected to carry out some of the monarch’s darker orders without question, in service of the realm. There are many hunters in the Kingdom of Aravia but only one can bear the title of Royal Huntsman, and it takes no small amount of skill and dedication to claim it. If you’re lucky enough to have him in your roster, use him wisely and lead your team to glory! Royal Huntsman Champion Lore In a nutshell, the Royal Huntsman is a force to be reckoned with, a champion whose skills are as sharp as his appearance. Why, you may ask? It’s all thanks to his A2 ability, of course! However, the Huntsman is most effective at wave nuking in all content, except boss encounters. This is a game-changer, my friend! It’s made him even more deadly and increased his viability tenfold. Now, hold your horses! In January 2021, the Royal Huntsman’s AI underwent a change that made him use his hard-hitting A3 nuke against bosses on Auto. To unleash his full potential, you’ll need to build him with speed, accuracy, and a 100% crit rate. He also has an AOE ability that decreases defense with a 100% hit rate if you land a critical hit. This makes him a formidable opponent in the Arena, but you’ll need to keep an eye on the other threats. Speaking of hitting hard, the Royal Huntsman is one heck of a Spirit affinity legendary! His A3 ability can take down a tank with ease, as it ignores all defense. ![]() Perhaps it’s his intuition that guides him, or he possesses a concealed charm that always hits the mark. ![]() However, it’s a mystery how he manages to aim with his headgear perched so low on his face. His armor glistens like the radiant morning sun. Royal Huntsman, a Legendary Attack Spirit affinity champion from the High Elves faction in Raid Shadow Legends, is a sight to behold from a distance. ![]()
